Associate Professor

Alessandro Ghio is an Associate Professor in Accounting at ESCP Business School (Paris, France). They hold a Ph.D. in financial accounting from ESSEC Business School (Paris, France) and a Ph.D. in management from the University of Pisa (Pisa, Italy). Their research focuses on issues surrounding the sociology of the accounting profession (in particular about issues concerning women and queer people in the accounting profession), and corporate social media communication. Alessandro is an associate editor of Accounting Horizons and a guest editor of Issues in Accounting Education. Alessandro teaches the capstone course “Seminars in Accounting”. They received the prestigious 2019 Global Award 'Ideas Worth Teaching' by the Aspen Institute (NYC, USA). Alessandro has published in several leading academic journals and he co-authored three books. They are the co-instigator of the projects “Working Women and Wellbeing” and “Queering Accounting” and they have led and/or taken key roles in competitive research funded projects equating to over one million Australian dollars. Prior to joining Laval University, Alessandro has been faculty staff at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) and at Laval University (Quebec, Canada), and they have been a controller in a large telecommunication organization, a consultant for the Italian Ministry of Education on social mobility in education, and a visiting scholar at Indiana University (USA).
