Giovanna is Professor of Accounting at the University of Bristol. Her research focus is at the interface between corporate governance and social responsibility, broadly this involves: building upon a stakeholder-oriented approach to governance; investigating how governance (board and CEO’s characteristics) shapes firms’ social responsible activities and reporting practices; understanding the business case for CSR and exploring the role of CSR information for market participants and other stakeholders. Her work has examined the relation between corporate governance characteristics and sustainability, identifying a role for the board of directors in addressing social and environmental practices and disclosure. Currently she is interested in understanding the dynamics of shareholder activism on ESG issues.

2025 Junior Network Virtual Workshop
The EAA is pleased to announce that the 2025 Junior Network Virtual Workshop will be held on Zoom, on December 18th, starting at 10 am.    The submissions were invited by the EAA Virtual Activities Committee in collaboration with the Editors of the PMI and the Chairs of the EAA Doctoral Colloquium, in an effort to further support students who submitted to the PMI in the past or applied to the EAA DC.    We hope this initiative in the future may prompt more interest in the PMI and EAA DC as presentation at the workshop is intended to be only accessible to…

EAA Junior Virtual Workshop
On December 10th, the EAA Virtual Activities Committee hosted the first Junior Virtual Workshop. The Virtual Workshop was conceived in collaboration with the Editors of the PhD Mentoring Initiatives (PMI) and the Chairs of the Doctorial Colloquium (DC), to offer to PhD students who have engaged with these dedicated EAA initiatives a platform to present their research and gather feedback. In its first edition, the workshop hosted 15 presentations, covering four key research areas: financial reporting, sustainability accounting, management accounting and corporate governance. Open letter We are writing this open letter as the Associate Editors, members of the Editorial Board, authors, readers and supporters of Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal (SAMPJ).  The Editor, Carol Adams, very recently informed us that the publisher of the journal, Emerald, has made the decision not to reappoint her as Editor because Emerald wishes to take SAMPJ in a new direction. In effect, we believe that this means, in a substantively different direction, thus necessitating the removal of the Editor.
